I have an pseudo-PCI buslogic card. pseudo, because it fits in a PCI slot, but seems to want to emulate an ISA card. Furthermore, I have the "rev A", of the 946C card, which sun then recommends running in some emulation mode, because it's so broken. Happily, though, I got it recognized, and aparently working.... AND THEN GOT I/O ERRORS after using the new drive! Not the usual actual DISK error, which normally also complain on the console window. Happily, I made an educated guess that this might just be due to the fact that the partition I was currently on, was greater than 2 gigabytes. Never mind that solaris 2.6 was supposed to fix all that. I guessed that with these old grungy x86 drivers, they may have been stuck in "The Code That Time Forgot". So, I repartitioned my drive to have all partitions less than 2 gig. So far, it hasn't complained again.
